This upcoming week will be a huge one for Future. Not only is his album dropping, he also has a documentary titled Like I never Left coming out as well. While we not really sure what its about, the rapper did manage to leak out a trailer. The trailer features a voice-over from a guy speaking some powerful poetic words that hints at what exactly the short film could be about. With an opening quote like “ In the back of our minds/ are the nastiest lines/that a dope mc never came wit” along with “Once we get tired of fakin/Unchain the beast in the brain that awaken”, it clearly reveals that the film might talk about Future’s growth as an artist, his strong mix-tape presence and how he plans to expand his brand.
Up until this point, Future has been committed to staying musically relevant. From October (2014) to March (2015), he has already released three mix-tapes, Monster, Beast Mode, and 56 nights. The interesting fact about these mix-tapes is that some heavy hitters produced them such as Zaytoven, 808 Mafia and Metro Boomin. Future’s Dirty sprite 2, which is the sequel to the Dirty Sprite mix tape from 2011, will be released this coming Friday. That would be Future’s third project released this year. While fans have been enjoying his mix-tapes, they also have been pleased with his latest singles “F— up some Commas” where he exhibits his smooth lyrical ability while also connoting about his love of money and “ Real sisters” which is a club banger for the ladies. The album is set to release on Friday, July 17.
Now artists such as Meek Mill, J.Cole, and Kendrick Lamar have all experience successful first-week album sales lately. Hopefully, Future can keep the trend going. Despite his first-week album sales in the past, Honest (53,000) and Pluto (41,000) to include, Future is looking to redeem himself and move more units his first week this time around. With his Mixtape’s trending, album and documentary dropping Friday, Future looks well equipped musically.
