Love This Track recently had the opportunity to interview singer-songwriter & actor, Rotimi. Taking the industry for a whirlwind, Rotimi has been nonstop, dabbing into every sector of the industry. Television, EPs, singles, music videos, movies, you name it, Rotimi’s doing it.
After having success with his single “Lotto,” featuring 50 cent and his Royal Wednesday EP, Rotimi delivers well in his mixtape Summer Bangerz. The five-track project features production from Brandon “B.A.M” Hodge, Bongo, Corte Ellis, Hannon Lane and more. He offers a nod of respect to his yesteryears, with samples from LL Cool J’s “Doing It Well,” Black Rob’s “Whoa,” and Mya 1998 hit “Movin On.”
The popular Starz show, Power, makes its season 3 premiere this Sunday, July 17. Rotimi, who is famously known as the character ‘Dre,’ dishes to Love This Track on what we can expect this upcoming season. A struggle of desiring power between characters is a big focus and reoccurring theme to lookout for.
To build on the hype from the Summer Bangerz project and Power coming back, Rotimi also just released his hot and sensual new video for “Doin It,” which was featured on the mixtape.
He mentions that he is working on an EP to be available at the end of summer, which fans will be excited to hear. Also, if you follow him on Snapchat, you may have seen snaps of him filming on set.
