Jahlil Beats, Holla at me!
Orlando Tucker has produced some of the biggest bangers in recent years. Signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, under the alias, Jahlil Beats there’s no doubt you’ve heard his work on the radio or seen it at the top of Billboard’s. Tucker grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania, building a passion for music from his father who was in a band. At 12, he began to learn production techniques, and taught himself audio engineering. He would eventually go to college, but had to drop out after losing his financial aid.
After dropping out, Tucker met up with Meek Mill and from there his production career kicked off. From his work, there no doubt that Jahlil beats makes bangers. He knows how use complex percussion, leading to an awesome bass. In 2011, Jahlil produced Meek Mill’s Ima Boss, off Maybach Music’s Self Made Vol. 1. The song was very population and received recognition by multiple media outlets, even being named the tenth best instrumental between 2008-2013 by Complex Magazine. In 2014, Jahlil produced the highly successful Hot N*gga by Bobby Shmurda. Since release, the song has reached platinum and has sold over 500,000 copies.
Jahlil most recent work was a collaborative mixtape with the Philadelphia based rap duo, CRMC. The tape, entitled God’s Plan, is the second collab between these two artists, and once again, Jahlil shows off his production talents. While there are multiple bangers, he also gives us a few other styles, specifically a 90s gangsta rap instrumental on the track Benita.
