Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, and his sister, Samantha Smith, were in court yesterday (5/20) at a hearing for custody of Nip’s daughter, Emani, with Tanisha Foster, Emani’s biological mother. Since Nipsey’s tragic death, Emani has been living with Samantha.
According to Nipsey’s family, Tanisha Foster is unfit to care for Emani. A warrant for her arrest over missing a court date for a 2017 DUI case was recently issued. In addition to this, Foster has a prior criminal record for cases from 2006 and 2007. Samantha Smith also stated that she would like to retain custody:
“To ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure that she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship.”
After the court hearing, Tanisha told a TMZ reporter that she’s “pissed off” at the result of the hearing. The guardianship hearing last month was the first time Tanisha had seen Emani in months. At this hearing, Tanisha broke down in tears, at which the judge cleared the room to give the two a moment alone. Tanisha’s lawyer, Larry Lewellyn, is currently working with her on a visiting schedule with Emani’s best interest in mind.
