Marvin Gaye and Gregory Hines will be honored as the next stamp recipients in the United States Postal Service’s Black Heritage series. Both Gaye and Hines will have their image placed on a Forever stamp, a first class postage stamp that can be used to mail a first class package no matter the postal rate is.
Gaye’s stamp comes as a part of the Music Icons collection of the stamps. His stamp will feature a painting of him on the front, as well as an excerpt of information on who he was and the impact that he had on American music. Hines’s stamp will feature a full body shot to include his tap shoes and honor his influence on the dance culture of the 90s.
The Black Heritage stamp series celebrates 40 years since its founding in 1978, so it is only fitting that they’ve announced the inclusion of these two legendary African-American icons.
