Aesthetic is a common selling-point when it comes to music videos. Whether it’s a beach drench in noir or a hotel lobby filled to the brim with a party, the vibe of the visuals is just as important as the music they represent. Young Thug is familiar with trends, and his business practice is no different. The latest video for his song “Up” featuring Lil Uzi Vert takes concepts straight out of 80’s TV drama and puts it on your screen.
The track is off of Thug’s latest release Hear No Evil. The new video features in large-part a black and white checkered hallway with thick red curtains surrounding the walls. The horror film aesthetic is only expounded upon with the strobe style video editing and occult nature of the costumes. From women wreathed in black and white paint to girls with devil horns and pentagrams on their face, the video is intense.
