Empara Mi, a singer who rose to popularity in 2016 with her single “Wanderlust,” is back with another track. Her new song, “Crying,” was produced by Lemonthebeat and accompanied by a music video.
The song’s video is reportedly inspired by the dying scene in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet film adaptation. “Crying” features a melding of styles across the pop, hip-hop, and R&B genres and shows off Empara’s vocals and artistic style. It opens with an ethereal voice singing and then funnels down into the artist’s original vocals towards the end. The track has already received support from high profile players in the music industry. Wonderland, a German online publication, described Empara as:
“Otherworldly is an accurate adjective that could be used to describe Guernsey-born enigma Empara Mi. Her cutting blend of pop, R&B and hip-hop sears like a burn, sometimes ghostly, sometimes a hurtling force of nature – but always a striking sonic and visual blast.”
