The controversial song by Rita Ora was finally matched with the accompanying music video on June 6th. The song gains its infamy due to the content of its lyrics which expounded upon male perceptions of LGBTQ stereotypes within bisexual relationships. The lyrics were penned by a team of male songwriters, the perceived offense is understood. Artists like Kehlani and Hayley Kiyoko, openly bisexual and queer female artists, took to their social media accounts to state their disproval.
The music video continues with this viewpoint but from a lesser-take, not being so overt about sexuality but tying it in artistically. The video opens with a scene of Ora and many blonde women holding hands and laying together. Bebe Recha and Charli XCX can be seen dispersed throughout the room and the images continue in such this way. Normalizing what is perceived in today’s society as out-of-the-norm, the video continues in this way.
