Lyricist Big K.R.I.T performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series. Using his poetic lyrics, Krit addressed themes of relationships, social issues, working through depression, and religion, throughout his three-song set.
During one set, K.R.I.T dedicates a spiritual song to his late grandmother, called “Keep the Devil Off”. Getting emotional, he spoke about how his grandmother introduced him to church, gospel and blues music. He went on to play an old recording, done by his grandmother of him and his brother singing when they were kids. Big Krit jokes, “I have to feel like my grandmother was my first mix engineer,”.
Currently, Big K.R.I.T is gearing up for his “Heavy Is The Crown” tour that will kick off March 15, in Little Rock, AR, and wrap up in Chicago, IL April 28. The tour will make stops in thirty-five cities across the country. For more information on the “Heavy Is The Crown” tour, visit his website below.
