Nigerian-American Afropop/Afrobeats rising star Toyé is back with a music video for his single, “Attitude.” The track was originally released back in October of 2018, and was produced by Grammy-nominated hitmaker, Ace Harris.
“Attitude” is an infectious song where Dancehall and Afrobeats meet R&B. The music video, directed by Tommy.4k, is simple enough, featuring Toyé performing the track surrounded by beautiful women and members of his entourage. Speaking on the inspiration behind his new track, Toyé shares:
“I wanted to create something that made people feel free, a record that could offer an escape from their reality even for a few minutes, while also offering a new and different approach to the composition of Afrobeats. ‘Attitude’ is really about me glorifying black women, acknowledging their relevance, importance, beauty, sexuality and sensuality.”
As his unique sound suggests, Toyé tries to bring a layer of authenticity to his music. He tries, above all, to showcase his skills while also painting an accurate portrait of himself as a person. He stated:
“I wanted to talk about something that related to me, as I could’ve easily talked about blowing money in the club with a lot of women, but that would’ve been false, cause I’m a broke college student that just happens to be able to write songs. This song is essentially a vibe that you could not only listen to in the club, but also while you’re relaxing at home, and especially when you’re loving on your significant other.”
“Attitude” will serve as the lead single for Toyé’s upcoming debut EP of the same name. Check out Toyé’s music video for the track here!
