21 Savage has released the visual for “A Lot,” the opening track on his latest album ‘I Am > I Was.’ The track, which features J. Cole, was recently performed by Savage on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The video echoes the song’s stirring message. It opens in the middle of an up-scale gathering in a nice house, and cuts to images of a dinner where Savage sits at the head of the table. The dinner scene is cut by scenes of painful incidents in the lives of those joining 21 at the table. Cole strolls into the gathering and performs his verse, lost in a crowd that is too busy caught up in their own conversation to acknowledge the rapper. There are “a lot” of nuanced metaphors within the seemingly straight forward video.
