Wyclef Jean’s protege, Jazzy Amra, has released her long awaited debut project ‘Amra.’ The album, which was originally expected in fall of 2018, comes months after the release of the video for her first official single “You Got Me,” featuring Wyclef and Riley, which released back in June of 2018. The video has since garnered over 1 million views on Youtube.
Jazzy Amra was introduced to Wyclef over four years ago, while the artist was still in college. She was signed to Head Music, but Wyclef decided to put her under intense artist training while she finished her studies. The 22-year old is originally from Kingsbridge, Bronx. Before releasing her first single in June, the artist collaborated with Wyclef Jean on his album ‘Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee,’ and also attended his tour for the project.
Amra’s first project consists of seven tracks, and features Wyclef Jean, Riley, and Jeremy Torres. It includes her most recent single “Waste of Time,” in addition to her first single “You Got Me.” The project manages to be both fun and inviting while also exploring life’s many twists and turns. In regards to her project, Jazzy stated:
“My inspiration while writing and recording my album was my everyday life. Through the music I want people to get to know me and see the truth about what I have gone through… good & bad.”
‘Amra’ definitely serves as a succinct yet strong introduction to what Jazzy Amra is capable of. The artist is already making a big impression on the music game and it will be interesting to see what she accomplishes in her upcoming years in the industry.
