To honor Juneteenth, numerous artists have been releasing projects dedicated to the day including Wale with his surprise EP, ‘The Imperfect Storm’. The breathtaking cover art was designed by Kenny Huyng and displays a riot ending in flames on a police car in L. A.
‘The Imperfect Storm’ is inspired by the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, and Wale gives his listeners six songs, “with a revolutionary spark and his ancestor’s spirit.”
“I try and watch the news, but I’m lashing out before crying out / My daughter seen a murder on cellular phone / We ain’t never been perfect but this family ours / Yo American, tuck your shirt in, your devil is showing.” The six track EP features songs such as ‘EMPTY WISHING WELL’, ‘BLUE YELLOW GREEN PINK WHITE’ and ‘MAAJO’.
