Some of the greatest songs come from out of movies. In this case, The Equalizers II starring Denzel Washington and directed by Antoine Fuqua chose to feature the newest song by singer-songwriter Jacob Banks titled “In the Name of Love.” The track is ripe with powerful and engaging lyrics while Banks’ voice expounds it all out into the air.
The New York Times has recently named Jacob one of “12 Notable Artists” at SXSW. The single that precedes “In the Name of Love” is titled “Unknown (To You)” has amassed over 10 million streams. Making waves not only with his voice alone but his performances as well- Banks recently performed “Unknown (To You)” on Late Night with Seth Myers.
“We’re thrilled that Jacob Banks is lending his incredible talent, voice, and songwriting skills to the movie. It’s a perfect counterpoint to the intense, visceral action of the film – it’s anthemic and hits close to home as McCall’s fight for justice becomes a very personal one,” added Spring Aspers, Head of Music for Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
