Bizarre from the former Michigan based hip-hop group D12 is gearing up to release a new solo project entitled ‘Rufus.’ Ahead of the project, he has released various singles, the latest of which is “I Wish I Was High.”
The new track, which was accompanied by a full visual, has already amassed over 10k views on Youtube. “I Wish I Was High” was a turning point in Bizarre’s process of creating an album that encompassed his life experiences. He recalls:
“At the time, the only song I had where I was singing was ‘Wish I Was High,’ and he stopped the song halfway through and told me this was what I needed to do for the whole project.”
‘Rufus’ will be a very personal project to the artist. In fact, the title itself comes from the Bizarre’s birth name, Rufus Arthur Johnson. Just as the title suggests, the album will allow fans to get to know Bizarre beyond his role in D12, and even beyond his music. A press release reveals that this album will be touching on a lot of the rapper’s personal life:
“Through this equally emotionally draining and cathartic process, Bizarre shares his real life experiences on everything from his years-long battle with weight-loss; to the ways in which his life has been molded by his stepfather; to the loss of his grandmother, complete with a recording of what would be their last conversation.”
