Theodore Jones, better known as rapper Young Greatness, was shot and killed in his hometown of New Orleans today (Oct. 29th) at 1:35am. The rapper was shot outside of a Waffle House, where his car was later stolen. Young Greatness died at the scene of the crime.
Young Greatness, best known for his 2015 hit song “Moolah,” had been rapping since 2012. He was signed to Quality Control Music in 2015. At LoveThisTrack, we have been covering Young Greatness and his music for the past few years. It is a shame to see another rapper go at such a young age. Greatness had turned 34 years old just over one month ago.
Friend and fellow rapper P Town Moe spoke on the incident, surprised to see Greatness was the target of such violence. He told local media:
“Dude wasn’t into nothing but his music and his daughter … Wasn’t into nothing else man.”
Several rappers, including Trae tha Truth and Bun B, have taken to social media to express their condolences. Bun B writes:
“Woke up to another phone call I didn’t wanna get. Another young brother shot down in the street.”
Young Greatness is the third rapper we have lost this year, and the second that was lost to senseless violence. May he rest easy. Our prayers are with his family.
