Congratulations to Usher! With over two decades of musical success and eight Grammys, Usher celebrated one of his biggest feats yet as he was awarded a star in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame yesterday, September 7.
“I’m here because I haven’t given up and I have even more to tell,” stated Usher as he accepted the award with a beaming smile. “It’s a story that started many, many, many years ago that leads to this moment. It’s not just what you do while you’re here. It’s the evidence of what you’ve done and what you leave on the walls, on the ground, and the hearts of all the people who are passionately connected to what you put out in the world.”
Usher also paid homage to everyone who has supported him with her career from the beginning from when he was signed to LaFace Records with L.A. Reid and other Music Execs. CEO of Epic Records, Warner/Chappell chairman/CEO Jon Platt and RCA president of urban music Mark Pitts.
Usher officially began his music career at the age of 13, signing with LaFace records to begin on his lifelong journey. With the dedication of the event, most people would fall victim to the flashing cameras and shouts of admiration, but Usher took the time to redirect the honor to his fans, “It’s because of you that this shining star is here.” He then added jokingly, “Now it’s your responsibility to come down here every chance you get to shine my star.”
