Based off of reports from The New York Times, IGOR, Tyler the Creator’s latest album topped DJ Khaled’s Father of Asahd LP for the no. 1 spot in this week’s Billboard 200 albums chart.
While it may or may not come to a surprise to some, this is actually Tyler’s first number one album, garnering 165,000 album sales.
The rapper also achieved a historical accomplishment by becoming the first solo rapper to debut at No. 1 with a self-produced and self-arranged record.
Taking to Twitter, Tyler said “honestly didnt think people would enjoy this album based on alot of thing, so again, thank you, i mean it. alot alot of effort put into this. not that that should dictate if people like it or not but im happy all that time and attention paid off.”
IGOR is available via all streaming platforms.
