It has been two years since the passing of funk and guitar-great Prince, and Questlove would like to make a tribute to one of his biggest influences. Partnering with the late musician’s estate to organize an orchestral tour of Prince’ music, the tour will be produced by Live Nation Urban, titled 4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince, featuring live band Wolf Trap.
The Roots drummer will be taking a break from his usual slot as the musical director on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, where the Roots has taken residency as the house band. This is the first major tour the estate has approved, being selective about licensing and streaming agreements. Questlove should feel at home, having been a touring musician for much of his professional life. The tour is slated to begin in September and will hit Dallas, Brooklyn, Chicago, Houston, and New Jersey. Tickets available at www.4uprince.com.
