Fresh off of his live-streamed Sunday Service performance at Coachella this past Sunday, Kanye West has reportedly been looking into a new venture. Though it has yet to be confirmed, sources close the rapper claim that he has been looking into starting his own church.
Kanye’s Sunday Coachella set rounded up over 50,000 attendees, and thousands more streamers. During the performance, he debuted a new track entitled “Water,” and featured appearances by Teyana Taylor, Kid Cudi, Chance the Rapper, and Ty Dolla $ign. A source close to Kanye recently discussed the possibility of him starting his own church:
“He is extremely passionate about his faith and wants to share it more regularly with people. He spends a lot of time studying and praying, and wants to share his journey. Say what you want about Kanye, but he really does want to help people who need support. He understands brokenness and the need for healing, probably more than most people. He believes in the healing powers of music, but also believes that God can step in and heal people’s brokenness and their issues.”
Kanye West has been delivering Sunday Service performances for his friends and family every week since the beginning of the year. Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, recently discussed the Sunday Services in an interview with Elle:
“It’s honestly more like a healing experience for my husband. It’s just music; there’s no sermon. It’s definitely something he believes in—Jesus—and there’s a Christian vibe. But there’s no preaching. It’s just a very spiritual Christian experience.”
So it is very possible that we will soon see Kanye West on the bold venture of starting his own, music based church.
