Last summer, it was revealed that Ab-Soul was working on a new project, much to the delight of his fans. The LA rapper has not put out new music since the release of his 2016 project ‘Do What Thou Wilt.’ While previous rumors of an album in the works have not amounted to anything, it seems that Soulo might finally be back in the studio.
Earlier today (6/4), Soulo gave a major hint that could mean that a project will be arriving by the end of the year. A simple “70%” tweeted from the artist’s account seems to indicate that he has indeed been working on music, and, more excitingly, that it is just about finished.
In 2018, Ab-Soul teased a secret project to be released by Top Dawg Entertainment, but the rumors did not result in a project. Since then, all of the other members of the West Coast rap collective, the Black Hippy crew, have released projects, namely Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’, Jay Rock’s ‘Redemption,’ and most recently, School Boy Q’s ‘CrasH Talk.’
Just when it seemed that all hope might be lost after his three year music drought, Ab-Soul’s tweet regenerates hope. It will definitely be interesting to see how Soulo has grown as an artist during this hiatus, but at this point, more than anything, it will just be satisfying to finally hear some new music from him.
