Bahja Rodriguez is a singer/songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. From an early age, she has always enjoyed singing and had a passion for music. Bahja’s professional career began at the tender age of 12 years old as “Miss Beauty” with the popular and colorful girl group the “OMG Girlz.” The group is most known for their songs “Gucci This(Gucci That),” “Where The Boys At,” “Baddie” and “Boy It’s Over.”
LoveThisTrack recently sat down with the R&B crooner. She has come a long way since her debut in the all-girl group OMG Girlz. From dying her signature pink hair jet black to venturing into more mature lyrical content, BAHJA is determined to show the world that she’s all grown up and more serious about music than ever.
She made her debut as a solo artist with the EP It Gets Better in November 2015 featuring fan favorite “Maybe”, which has garnered over 200,000 plays on SoundCloud. Her most recent project, the EP entitled Luv, is quickly racking up hits on the streaming platform and reveals an even more vulnerable and adult side to the 20-year-old songstress. Both projects made an impact on the iTunes R&B/soul charts, peaking at #6 and #8, respectively.
Bahja is currently working on her debut album, expected to be released this year, and also has plans to go on tour.

On her solo career: “Music was always something that I wanted to do even before I was in a girl group…I was never gonna stop doing it. It’s something that I’m really passionate about and I’ve always been…It wasn’t more so of a courage thing…I had to do it. I felt God letting me know it was my time to really be an individual.”
On artistic control: “I’m able, creatively, to of course have more input. It’s just me. I get to make decisions that I wanna make and I don’t have to go ask anybody…At the end of the day, it’s always my decision and I really enjoy that.”
Her message to fans: “Never be afraid to feel…In my music, I talk about love and the way that I feel all the time and I think that it’s so needed right now because everybody is so about themselves and I feel like people are scared to show emotions…Be yourself and be the best you that you can be.”
Artists she wants to work with: “Wiz Kid. I love Eric Bellinger. Big Sean, love him. His album is crazy.”
Bahja’s music has made us fall even more in love with her. We’re looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next!
