Fatimah Warner, known as Noname Gypsy, is an up and coming artist from Chicago. If you keep up with the Chicago scene at all, you’ve probably heard her voice. Over the last 2 years she’s been collaborating with artists like Chance the Rapper, Mick Jenkins, and Donnie Trumpet. She grew up a poet, and participated in numerous open mic and slam poetry events. She went so far as to place third in Chicago’s Louder than a Bomb competition. Her poetry side is prominent in her songs and she takes time to create a very lyrical rap.
So far Warner has only released one mixtape, What the Fuck is a Noname Gypsy, featuring Mick Jenkins and The O’My’s. The album has a very jazzy sound and she uses old school beats throughout the tape. She is currently working on another mixtape, Telephone, which is due out this year. Warner’s latest feature was on Lil B and Chance the Rappers “Free (Based Freestyles Mixtape)”, on the opening song, Last Dance.
