As a 19 year old just finishing high school, succeeding in a music career and breaking into fame isn’t on everyone’s checklist, but it is the reality of a young rapper out of Milwaukee. The name IshDarr is beginning to be recognized across the nation as his career takes off. Ishmael Ali, better known as IshDarr, is a rising hip-hop artist who broke through while still in high school, later recording with Atlantic Records and working with top name producers to drop some of the hottest music out right now.
Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, IshDarr got his first taste of hip-hop from his parents. He remembers that there was always some music from Lil Wayne, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest playing around his house during his childhood. During his freshmen year in high school, he got the chance to experiment with music after working on a few projects with his brother’s music group. IshDarr began rapping with the group after going into the studio together. After his brother’s friends graduated and split up, he almost quit and stopped making music, but after some encouragement from a teacher he began solo work. In early 2014, the name IshDarr began spreading around as he released a few singles and an EP titled “The Better Life” via SoundCloud. Overnight, this caught the attention of blogs from all different areas, and months later led to Atlantic Records flying him out to record.
IshDarr recently dropped an album earlier this month on October 7 he titled “Broken Hearts & Bankrolls”. The album is composed of 12 tracks, each better than the last, with singles such as “Locals” and “Time Shawty” that you need to hear.
IshDarr says that being able to work with such producers like Arthur McArthur and J Gramm is a blessing, but his goal for the next few years is to be on tour with a team of his artists, with hopes of nothing more than a Grammy, and the way he is going now he is closer than ever.
