Tyler, The Creator has released an EP entitled ‘Music Inspired By Illumination & Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.’ The EP was recorded entirely by Tyler. As the title bluntly suggests, the EP was inspired by the upcoming third movie and second animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ famous children’s book ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas,’ which will be produced by Illumination Entertainment. Tyler has also contributed two tracks to the upcoming movie’s soundtrack, a remake of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and an original track entitled “I Am The Grinch.”
The EP is six songs and only 10 minutes long. It features artists Jerry Paper, Santigold, and Ryan Beatty on two of the tracks. Though brief, these was a lot creative forethought that went into the project. It opens with a soothing instrumental, that brings up nostalgic feelings of Christmas and the holiday season. The tracks flow into one another effortlessly, as it alternates from instrumental to lyrical track throughout the entire track list. The song titles feature some clear imagery from the Grinch film, evident in “Whoville” and “Cindy Lou’s Wish.” All-in-all, this project is a very festive album that celebrates both Christmas and Tyler’s signature style.
