This past week the soul singer, songwriter, actress, and philanthropist Such released her third studio album titled ‘Wide Nose, Full Lips.’ The ten-track project serves as an ode to her people as she attempts the essence and beauty of being a black woman.
The album includes the single “Before Dark,” in which the artist embraces her womanhood, sexuality and exudes self-love. One of the most moving tracks on the album is “Melanin,” which also celebrates blackness and features a spoken word by poet Kerrie Joy. Regarding the album, Such shared:
“I’ve been on this road to discovering who I am as a Black woman and becoming someone who is a little more comfortable in her skin. This album is about embracing our beauty as black people, being fully confident in our sensuality as Black women, and no longer struggling to find comfort in our own skin.”
Such has a few performances lined up in support of the album, including a performance at The Soiled Dove in Denver, Colorado. Such will be there August 24th and 25th, accompanied by jazz singer Tony Exum Jr., who will open for her on the 24th, and Kerrie Joy, who will open for her on the 25th. Such will additionally be performing at the City Winery DC on September 24th.
