Memphis rapper MoneyBagg Yo has released his long-awaited debut album ‘Reset.’ The single “OKAY” featuring Future, which released in late September, is featured on the 15-track LP. Now that we’ve gotten the full project, MoneyBagg has officially established a name in the rap game.
The YG protege, MoneyBagg signed to YG’s CMG Records back in October of 2016, as well as signing a distribution deal with Interscope Records. MoneyBagg has been grinding hard trying to make it in the game, dropping 15 mixtapes over the span of his career. His latest mixtape just released in August, and three months later he is already back with his studio album. He began to see some success when two of his 2017 mixtapes debuted on the Billboard Charts. ‘Heartless’ debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200, while ‘Federal 3X’ debuted at number 5!
On his debut album, we see Moneybagg appropriately open with some bars for those who doubted him, and those who are flocking now that he’s seen some success. On “Midnight Patek” he says “Got album sales off a mixtape // What make you think you can come around // After burning bridges, ain’t sh** straight.” His LP also features various big name artists including YG, Future, Kodak Black, Kevin Gates, Jeremih, Rvssian, and J. Cole. His feature with J. Cole actually resulted by chance.
He tells XXL Magazine:[J. Cole] was on tour, we was in L.A., and he told me he wasn’t supposed to have been at the studio to that day. But his homeboy ended up calling him to the studio. So he get to the studio, I’m coming out the hallway, we bump into each other. So I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m working on my first album. It’ll be good to have you a part of it. He like, ‘Forreal, I’m a big fan.’ [Cole] walked right in [to the studio] in less than three minutes and [was] like, ‘Yo, pull something up, what you got?’ [Cole] was like, ‘This a good song, they gon’ rock with it,’ but that ain’t what I’m looking for. I want to come to your world.’ So I got the trap J. Cole [laughs].”
